THE BURLINGTON MAGAZINE: FEBRAURY 1999 ROSEMARIE MULCAHY LONDON, FEBRUARY 1999. Madrid and elsewhere. Philip II. One of the revelations of the exhibition was the display for the first time of four segments of the full-scale cartoon by Dirck Crabeth (completed 1557-59). The window was commissioned by Philip and his wife Mary Tudor who are represented kneeling in prayer as part of a Last Supper scene. This is the most impressive representation of Philip as King of England, commissioned at a time when there were signs of a profound religious crisis in the Low Countries.
